Theme: ‘Stop AIDS, Keep the Promise’
To focus on keeping commitments to stop HIV/AIDS at all levels
On the occasion of World AIDS Day 2006, STAC commemorated the day by organizing an activity “Partnership programs with School on prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis” in SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur, Nepal on 29 November 2006. The program was focused on the World AIDS Day Theme “Stop AIDS, Keep the Promise”.
The objectives of the program were:
• to disseminate update-information on HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis,
• to seek more cooperation in control of these disease through raising public awareness and
• to strengthen and expand partnership for control and prevention of TB and HIV/AIDS
• to build a cadre of child ambassadors, committed to spread messages on TB and HIV/AIDS to the community.
Seventy students (class nine), Principal, panel of teacher consisting subject-teacher and managerial staff took part in the program.
World AIDS Day 2005
World AIDS Day is commemorated around the globe on 1st December every year. It celebrates progress made in the battle against the epidemic – and highlights issues need to be addressed. Every year a theme is given and accordingly the theme of the year 2005 was "Stop AIDS, Keep Promise".
Awareness is the main issue needs to be addressed to prevent HIV. To create awareness STAC organized partnership programmes with school and with media on control and prevention of TB and HIV/AIDS at Birgunj, Parsa, Nepal.
Interaction Programme with Media
SAARC Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS Centre and Federation of Nepalese Journalists Association, Parsa district, jointly organized an interaction programme with Media on Prevention and Control of TB and HIV/AIDS on the occasion of World AIDS Day 2005 on Dec. 1, 2005 at Birgunj.
Birgunj, being one of the main entry points, was chosen for advocacy to the media people of both side of border, Nepal and India.
Forty-eight Journalists from Parsa District of Nepal and Raxual of India and representatives from government and non-government organizations participated in the programme.
WORLD AIDS DAY 2004
Theme: Women, Girls, HIV and AIDS
STAC organized a partnership programme with pharmacists on HIV/AIDS prevention and control on the occasion of the world AIDS day 2004. The objectives of the day were:
Strengthening current efforts to prevent the spread of HIV
-
Curtailing any further rise in the epidemic and commence a downward trend and
-
Providing affordable package of care and support of persons infected with or affected by HIV.
