It is our pleasure to provide information about SAARC TB and HIV/AIDS Centre (STAC) located in Nepal through this website. The Centre is actively participating in regional collaborative efforts in control and prevention of TB and HIV/AIDS in SAARC Member States.
STAC, a regional centre for TB & HIV/AIDS of SAARC, since its inception in 1992, has taken up the challenges of combating the threats of Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in the SAARC Region, being the coordinating Centre for National TB Control Programmes (NTPs) and National HIV/AIDS Control Programmes (NACPs) in the SAARC Member States. This Centre provides services through a wide range of training, organizing workshops & seminars, research, meetings, dissemination of information, sharing the experiences for effective management of TB and HIV/AIDS control programmes.
The Library as resource centre for TB and HIV/AIDS in the region is being updated with the Audio Visual section. Soft-link Library Office Automation, Alice software is being used for up to date records.
Epidemiological network is being developed by new web based data software.
SAARC Regional TB Reference Laboratory is being strengthened with lab network in SAARC Member States.
SAARC Journal of Tuberculosis, Lung Diseases and HIV/AIDS is being published twice a year with important articles on TB and HIV/AIDS. You may send articles to STAC for publication. STAC Newsletter is being published with reports on STAC activities and technical information.
This Centre is also a collaborating centre of World Health Organization (WHO). In collaboration with UNAIDS, strategy for the control of HIV/AIDS in the Region has been developed and is under process of implementation. Strategy for TB/HIV co-infection developed in collaboration with Health Canada is already under implementation.
